  1.     BitMaster 1.05 Reference Sheet...

  3.     BitMaster was created during my research on the FDC chip
  4. on the ST and is the product of much trial and error.  This program
  5. is designed to create and modify special track formats.
  6.  
  7.     Special track formats include high density disks or non
  8. standard formats such as on protected disks...
  9.  
  10.     To read a track format into the buffer, press R and then
  11. enter a track number. (It's in hex, sorry, it's public domain..
  12. what do you expect for free??!!)
  13.  
  14.       Then press I to interpret the address marks.  This will fill
  15. the data block with E5's and configure the address headers so that
  16. they can be rewritten to the disk..
  17.  
  18.     To write a track from the buffer, press W and then enter the
  19. track number. Now that that is done.. you now should have a track
  20. format on the disk without data.
  21.  
  22.     To copy the data, you must read each sector, using the
  23. ctrl-r command and then write it back on the destination using the
  24. ctrl-w command.  If you are creating a custom format, then you do 
  25. not necessarily need to do this step..

  28.     The meaning behind the FDC status report is this:
  29.  
  30. Motor = Motor on/off               (0 = off/1 = on)
  31.  
  32. Wrpro = Write Protect on/off        (0 = off/1 = on)
  33.  
  34. Rtyp/Spin = Record Type/Spin-up        
  35. ( on seeks this means if the spin-up finished but on regular sector
  36.     reads then 0 = regular data mark and 1 = deleted data mark)
  37.  
  38. RNF = Record Not Found  (on sector commands a 1 = the sector was
  39.              not found on this track )
  40.  
  41. CRC = Cyclic Redundancy Check  (on sector commands a 1 = crc
  42.      error occured )
  43.  
  44. Lsdat/Tr0 = Lost Data/Track 0 ( if head on TR0 then = 1 )
  45.     ( if lost data during sector command then = 1 )
  46.  
  47. Dtr/Indx = Data Request/Index Pin ( Status of index pin )
  48.  
  49. Busy    = Busy (the operation completed while FDC busy )

  53.     BitMaster is not designed with the beginner or intermediate
  54. user/programmer in mind.  It must be combined with knowledge about
  55. track formats in order to effectively use it to it's full potential.
  56. Any ideas, suggestions, or improvements that you would like to see,
  57. should be relayed to me via IBBS (292-1321) or NSIC (771-6132).
  58.     Have fun..... and be sure only to modify backups of your disks
  59. with this product as I make no claims as to the operation of this
  60. program....

  63. releasing the ultimate copier for the ST as part of my CodeZapper ST
